Green Acres is a largely postwar suburban neighborhood located in eastern Manchester. This neighborhood is bordered by Laydon Street to the north, Interstate 93 to the east, Interstate 293 to the south, and Mammoth Road to the west.

Before being renamed Manchester in the early 19th Century, the City was known as Derryfield, and Green Acres served as its first Center. The area was an important stop for the early stagecoach travelling from Londonderry. Construction of Mammoth Road, which runs through this neighborhood, began in 1834. This project was originally opposed by both Manchester and Londonderry because of the cost of the construction and concern that this road would not benefit these towns. Mammoth Road quickly became the center of Green Acres and is a highly utilized road in the present day.

  • Green Acres had the City's first Post Office which was located at 97 Mammoth Road?Neighborhood: Green Acres
    Manchester's first Post Office built in 1806. This six-bedroom colonial house, also known as Huse House located at 97 Mammoth Road and is now a private residence. It is the City’s second oldest structure (the General John Stark Homestead is the oldest built in 1736) and is listed with the NH State Register of Historic Places.     Manchester CrimeLine, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that works alongside the Manchester Police Department, offering rewards to citizens who provide information that leads to the arrest and indictment of criminals. Formed in 1981, CrimeLine has assisted the MPD in solving thousands of cases, making Manchester a safer place to live, work, and raise families.
